At the end of the 19th century, the first Waldorf Astoria Hotel opened in New York city, two luxury locations, side by side that became known as the "Hyphen". "Meet me at the Hyphen" became the rallying cry of the ultra-wealthy and high society, a place to be meet and be seen and where the world aspired to be. It became a symbol of that wonderful golden age.
