Chinese mobile payment solution provider Inspiry launches self-service QR-code payment solution Inspiry Smart Box in Sydney

- The launch reflects an acceleration in the rate at which mobile payment is being adopted in Australia

SYDNEY, Jan. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Inspiry Smart Box, a self-service QR-code payment terminal developed by Chinese mobile payment solution provider Inspiry, was recently launched at cashier stations of several shopping malls and supermarkets across Sydney. The Inspiry Smart Box has already become a fixture at the checkout counters of several shopping malls and supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and jewellery shops in the city.

The deployment of the Inspiry payment solution in Sydney reflects a trend towards an accelerated growth in Australia's mobile payment sector. Data from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) shows that Australia is the world's sixth largest country in terms of the adoption of electronic payment. Cash payment made up 37 percent of all consumer payments in the country in 2016, compared to 69 percent in 2007.

In downtown Sydney and Circular Quay, the hub of Sydney Harbour, both of which are frequented by Chinese visitors, local shopping malls and supermarkets use the Inspiry Smart Box to provide Chinese residing in Sydney and Chinese visitors from abroad with convenient and efficient payment services that help address their shopping needs.

Inspiry International COO Gao Zilong said, "In addition to serving the Chinese residing in Australia and Chinese visitors who prefer QR code payment, Inspiry also aims to help boost the development of Australia's payment industry with Chinese offline mobile payment solutions." He added, "The rapid growth of mobile payment in China indicates that in countries which boast a mature and sound bank card-based payment system, mobile QR code-based electronic payment has demonstrated its great value in application. As an easy-to-deploy, easy-to-use and efficient solution that costs the merchant little to install, mobile QR code-based electronic payment connects online and offline mobile internet services, offering huge potential for added value services to local businesses."

Consumers can use the Inspiry Smart Box to scan the QR-code generated by their smartphones to complete the payment quickly and conveniently. Some merchants in Sydney said thanks to device's fast response in processing the transaction, the payment terminal has eliminated the time wasted having to make change. In addition, the Inspiry Smart Box equipped with a keyboard and voice system supports participating merchants in operation and management.
