Delegates from 25 States Joined Live-Streaming 9th Global Sustainable Development Forum on Water Resources in Hong Kong for Community of Shared Future

HONG KONG, Oct. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 6th, "the Celebration Banquet of the 69th Anniversary of Founding of the People's Republic of China-the 9th Global Sustainable Development Forum on Water Resources-The Belt and Road Water Resources Development Strategy and the 21st Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to China, and International Cultural Banquet" was held at the Grand Hall of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and streamed live globally, drawing over 3,000 participants. State leaders and ambassadors from over 25 countries addressed the forum, reviewing the past of water resources and championing a green and peaceful development path to forge a community of shared future.

The Forum was co-organized by 16 major institutions from China, the U.S., Australia, and Malaysia; organizations under the United Nations; and embassies to China. The Executive Chairman of the conference was Dato' Sri Baima Aose, Steering Committee Member of the UN High-level International Conference on International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, and Co-Chairmen were Dr. Lo, Man Tuen GBS JP, Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese; Hon. Bruce Atkinson MLC, President of Victorian Legislative Council of Australia; Lim Jong Seong, Member of National Assembly Republic of Korea, Deputy Chief of the Democratic Party; Datin Sri Dr. Irys Ng and other political leaders.

Dr. Lo, Man Tuen GBS JP, Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, along with 19 ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary to China was awarded the Peace Medal. 30 political and business leaders were presented the Golden Eagle Medal of Honor to celebrate their outstanding contributions to world peace, international communication, cultural and economic development. The International Cultural Banquet, commemorating the 69th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China and the 21st anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China, called for sustainable development of water resources and advocated the Belt and Road Initiative.

As a major international charitable event, "Global Sustainable Development Forum on Water Resources" has been held 8 times, attracting tens of thousands of participants and media reports, reaching millions.
