Efficient Power Conversion Corporation (EPC) Receives 2018 Top 10 Power Products Award from Electronic Products China Magazine / 21iC Media

Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has successfully completed automotive AEC Q101 qualification for EPC2202 and EPC2203 gallium nitride devices, opening a range of applications in automotive and other harsh environments.

BEIJING, Sept. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Efficient Power Conversion Corporation's AEC Q101-qualified EPC2202 and EPC2203 have been honored with an Electronic Products China / 21iC Media's "Top 10 Power Products -- Technology Breakthrough Award". The award presentation was announced on September 13th, 2018 in Beijing, China during 21iC Power Conference 2018.

Electronic Products China / 21iC Media under the global Aspencore Group -- a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers -- evaluated a significant number of products launched from July 2nd, 2017 to July 1st, 2018. The winning products were selected on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or its application, as well as the substantial achievement in the products' price and performance.

eGaN technology has been in mass production for over eight years, accumulating billions of hours of successful field experience in automotive applications, such as LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) and radar for autonomous cars, 48 V - 12 V DC-DC converters, high intensity headlamps for trucks and ultra-high-fidelity infotainment systems.

EPC2202 and EPC2203 are the first two EPC products which completed AEC Q101 qualification testing.  The EPC2202 is an 80 V, 16 milliohm enhancement-mode FET with a pulsed current rating of 75 A in a 2.1mm x 1.6mm chip-scale package. The EPC2203 is an 80 V, 73 milliohm part with a pulsed current rating of 18 A in a 0.9mm x 0.9mm chip-scale package. These eGaN FETs are many times smaller and achieve switching speeds 10 - 100 times faster than their silicon MOSFET counterparts.

"We are very proud that the panel of judges of Electronic Products China / 21iC Media has recognized our AEC 101-qualified EPC2202 and EPC2203 eGaN FETs for their qualification for automotive applications, enabling autonomous driving, as well as improving fuel economy and safety. This 'Top 10 - Technology Breakthrough Award' substantiates that eGaN technology is the performance leader in efficient power conversion," said Alex Lidow, CEO and Co-founder of Efficient Power Conversion Corporation.

2018 marks the 16th annual Electronic Products China's "Top 10 Power Product Awards," which recognizes the best products in the semiconductor industry

About EPC

EPC is the leader in enhancement mode gallium nitride-based power management devices. EPC was the first to introduce enhancement-mode gallium-nitride-on-silicon (eGaN) FETs as power MOSFET replacements in applications such as DC-DC converters, wireless power transfer, envelope tracking, RF transmission, power inverters, remote sensing technology (LiDAR), and class-D audio amplifiers with device performance many times greater than the best silicon power MOSFETs.
