IEV Holdings Limited expands into postpartum care through acquisition of Lady Paradise

2019-11-04 09:00 2603

SINGAPORE, Nov. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The demand for post-natal care in Asia is on the rise with an increasing number of mothers from countries like China, Japan and Malaysia turning to post-partum care centers after the birth of their children. Eyeing up this growth, Singapore-based investment holding company IEV Holdings Limited is expanding its business to cover mothers and their babies by recently acquiring Lady Paradise Sdn Bhd, the oldest post-natal confinement care center in Malaysia.

"Post-natal care is an emerging business, especially in Asia. Having grandparents looking after kids nowadays is becoming less frequent. Our society has changed and people are living in smaller confined spaces, in smaller apartments. Having grandparents to come over and look after your youngsters isn't so easy and young couples don't want to bother their parents so much. So, if they can afford it, they like to go to a professional place where they can get professional support and treatment," said Christopher Nghia Do, president and chief executive officer of IEV Holdings Limited.

Based on this rising demand, IEV Holdings Limited is planning to build two centers, one in Malaysia and the other in Singapore by 2020. The Singaporean center will be a luxury complex equipped with experienced and well-trained staff who will offer mothers and their babies personal care.

Features of Singapore's new post-partum center

  • 28-day stay package
  • 30 to 40 rooms available
  • 24-hour care for mother and baby
  • Post-natal yoga classes
  • A combination of modern and traditional post-partum care methods
  • Day-care centers
  • Courses for mothers including baby bathing and breastfeeding classes

IEV Holdings Limited is planning on expanding to non-Asian countries as well with Australia being one of the target regions.

"Non-Asian mothers are starting to realise the importance of post-partum care especially the effects it has on a mother's body. They've realised that some of the Asian mothers' so-called "youthful preservation" actually comes from how they care for themselves after they give birth to their children. So, interest in post-natal care is slowly growing outside of Asia," said Dato Ken Low, Executive Director at IEV Holdings Limited.

Apart from the rising popularity of post-partum services, Low also pointed out diversifying IEV's business into the healthcare and wellness industry will also boost business amid a "tough period" for the oil and gas industry following the collapse of oil prices and the unstable global situation.
