Schindler Lifts Singapore Pte Ltd. receives SkillsFuture Employer Award

SINGAPORE, July 31, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Schindler Lifts Singapore Pte Ltd. was presented the SkillsFuture Employer Award by the President of the Republic of Singapore, Mdm Halimah Yacob, in an awards ceremony on July 30th 2019.

Touted as Singapore's highest skills award for employers, this accolade honours exemplary organizations, which lead the way in championing employees' skills development and building a culture of lifelong learning in their workplace. Through Schindler Singapore's commitment to support the people who build and grow the business, it is elevating people and talent development is crucial in making Schindler the first choice for their employees and ultimately, their customers.

This award recognizes Schindler Singapore for their wholistic human capital development strategy which is aligned with lean industry and national manpower trends, related governmental initiatives and proactively equipping the workforce with digital tools and competencies to thrive in the evolving vertical transportation business accelerated through Industry 4.0.

As a result of efforts to enhance the effectiveness of their human capital strategy, Schindler Singapore pledged for a better Built Environment Workplace with the Building Construction Authority Singapore, enhanced competency-based hiring practices and extended company study leave benefits to employees upgrading their skillsets through government endorsed SkillsFuture courses.

Schindler Singapore integrated their apprenticeship program with part time vocational studies at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), which in addition to Schindler's belting certification, certifies technicians as qualified Lift Specialists. Supporting the Singapore manpower ministry's move to vocationalize the vertical transportation industry, Schindler Singapore supports the launch of the Certificate of Competency in Lift Maintenance for Lift Specialists through assessments conducted by ITE.

As a prelude to the SkillsFuture Employer award, Schindler Singapore attained Workforce Singapore's (WSG) Capability Development Grant (Industry level) for IOEE Implementation in Singapore and was subsequently admitted as a Human Capital Partner with Singapore National Employer's Federation (SNEF), recognizing employers with strong relevance to the national economy, a strong core of Singaporean employees and commitment to workforce development have helped to strengthen Schindler Singapore as a leading employer amongst their industry peers in Singapore.

Schindler is the first amongst their industry peers in Singapore to win this award.[1]
