SHANGHAI, March 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Sherwin-Williams Packaging Coatings announced that it will implement a price increase in Asia to offset a significant rise in raw material costs. The price increase will target up to 20% for epoxy based products. The increase will be effective immediately, or as contracts and agreements allow.

"In Asia, we are continuously experiencing raw material cost increases, especially for epoxy, BPA, and polyester materials. Tightening environmental and safety regulations in China, and the enhanced enforcement efforts behind those regulations, have led to rising feedstock prices for key commodity chemicals.  We have not been able to offset the negative impact of these increases by any other means, while delivering the coatings solutions and support our customers need," said Sam Shoemaker, President & General Manager, Sherwin-Williams Global Packaging, Coil, and Coating Resins & Colorants.

"We will continue to work closely with our customers to minimize costs and remain committed to providing innovative packaging coating solutions, best-in-class service, and regulatory expertise," said Louis Wang, Managing Director Asia Pacific.

Details of the price increases will be communicated directly with customers.
