SINGAPORE, May 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In March, participants flocked to Seoul, South Korea to view smart factory technologies on display at Automation World 2017, a three-day expo dedicated to the latest developments in Industry 4.0 where cyber-physical systems interact with the physical world. Penta Security Systems Inc., a leading provider of web, IoT, and data security solutions and services, participated as an exhibitor to showcase its smart factory security solution "Penta Smart Factory Security." The company also unveiled its smart metering security solution and the acclaimed connected car security solution, AutoCrypt.

As the market share leader for Web Application Firewall (WAF) in the Asia-Pacific region, "Penta Smart Factory Security" brought to light the crucial necessity of Smart Factory security. With the manufacturing sector's adoption of Industry 4.0–which relies exclusively on IoT technology–the topic of Smart Factory security has been receiving increased attention. Because security threats in a traditional IT environment can also apply to Smart Factory environments, successful hacking attempts can cause interruptions or malfunctions in the manufacturing process, which in turn can result in tremendous economic losses.

Interest and demand for Smart Factory security has been especially high in Japan. In April 2016, the Japanese government in cooperation with Germany set a goal to launch 50 smart factories throughout the country by 2020. In order to address security threats for countries like Japan that embrace smart factory environments as its model for future growth, Penta Security has developed the "Penta Smart Factory Security" solution.

Penta Smart Factory Security provides both software or hardware-type encryption modules to improve the security of IoT devices in smart factories. The solution also provides enhanced device authentication with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) that supports mutual authentication, ensuring a secure communication environment for connected factory equipment.

Continuing to raise awareness in Asia for the need for IoT security solutions with next-level technology, Penta Security participated in AWS Summit Seoul 2017. The company also plans to exhibit its solutions at Automotive World 2018 in Tokyo. "Because all Smart Factory systems are automated, data and equipment security should receive the highest priority," said DS Kim, Chief Strategy Officer at Penta Security Systems. "As a leading provider of IoT security technology, we plan on partnerships with key players in the industry in order to distribute and optimize our security solutions for safe application in various Smart Factory conditions."
