"Exploring new ways of global economic governance, the 2018 Forum focuses on integrating sustainable development elements into investment and green finance along the Belt and Road, in order to strengthen multilateral financial cooperation, provide a powerful platform for stakeholders, upgrade regional cooperation, and facilitate resource integration," said Wei Jianguo, Executive Deputy Director of CCIEE.
The first day high-level policy dialogue will be followed by a business dialogue on April 13, in order to further identify opportunities, the private sector and local authorities can bring given their increasingly significant role in implementing the BRI. Recognizing the role cities along the Belt and Road play in driving economic opportunities, this year's Forum is held in Guangzhou, an integral part of the 'Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area' (GBA). With Guangzhou's proven location and resource advantages in driving regional integration on port, manufacturing, service and innovation, the Forum aims to strengthen connectivity by creating a cooperation network of cities along the Belt and Road that capitalizes on their complementarities and synergies.
The insights and ideas of 2018 Global Governance Forum will be further collected and published to feed into the critical thinking of next Belt and Road Forum in 2019.
