The total sales volume for the first quarter soared by 1.5 times YoY
HONG KONG, April 12 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company", together with its subsidiaries referred to as the "Group"; HKSE: 02618) today announced the Group's unaudited handsets and accessories sales volume data for March and the first quarter in 2010.
Sales performance of the Group's handsets and accessories operations continued to shine in March 2010. Total sales volume for the month reached 2,266,826 units, representing a remarkable increase of 57% and 139%, respectively over February 2010 and the same period of 2009. Sales volume in the overseas markets soared by 196% to over 2 million units from the corresponding period in 2009. The Group sold a total of 5,788,613 units of handsets and accessories in the first quarter of this year, representing a substantial increase of 154% over the same period of last year and a 72% increase when compared to the pre-financial crisis level recorded in the first quarter of 2008. These outstanding performances reflect the Group's operating performance has fully recovered.
The Group will continue to strengthen efforts in product innovation. While actively developing low-end handset business, it will gradually explore mid to high-end operations. Moreover, it will further expand and deepen the cooperation with major mobile operators in different areas. Meanwhile, it will strive hard to achieve the sales target for this year by strengthening efforts in developing Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) business to get more orders.
