SHANGHAI, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Reaffirming its industry-leading software development practices, China-based IT outsourcer Bleum Inc. has received the Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 5 rating. Essentially a combination of total quality management and lean principles for software development, the CMMI model helps companies improve their quality and achieve higher productivity for software development.
Bleum was one of the first companies in China to achieve CMM Level 5, in 2006, and this second appraisal places it among an elite number of companies that have achieved CMMI Level 5. More than 80 percent all appraised companies are at Level 3 or below.
“Bleum’s dedication to world-class software development processes, quality and productivity is without question. The fact that it is CMMI Level 5 in all of its offshore development centers (ODCs) is extremely unusual. Rather than requiring that I examine a specific operation or ODC, Bleum told me to select among any of its ODCs or company areas for the appraisal,” says Malcolm Patrick, lead appraiser from Process Advantage Technology, Inc. “Bleum is a company that has made continuous improvement a way of life.”
“Our clients trust us to design, build, test and run their business-critical applications, such as online payment systems, eCommerce websites and trading systems,” says Patrick Rao, Bleum’s director of quality who spearheaded the reappraisal process. “Last year, over 30% of our software releases were delivered to our clients with zero defects. CMMI Level 5 ensures that we have much higher levels of predictability, resulting in low cost and schedule variance.”
“I am really proud of everyone at Bleum for their ongoing commitment to excellence. Bleum has maintained its high quality standards while growing by more than 10 times in the past four years to more than 1,000 employees,” notes Eric Rongley, Bleum chief executive officer and founder. “We have achieved the difficult task of maintaining and even improving our quality performance while dramatically growing the company by every measure. The teams, too, are proud that our quality efforts have been recognized by clients, resulting in average client satisfaction scores of 4.3 out of 5 in 2009.”
