EDN China Innovation Awards recognizes distributor's technical expertise and high standards
HONG KONG, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Avnet Electronics Marketing China, a division of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), has been chosen as "Engineers' Favorite Distributor" in the 2010 EDN China Innovation Awards. The news was announced by EDN China at the awards ceremony in Shenzhen on 17 November 2010. Avnet also won the award last year, the first time that the event had included an "Engineers' Favourite Distributor" category.
"Avnet Electronics Marketing China is once again delighted to be recognized by EDN China's engineer readers," said Frederick Fu, regional president of Avnet Electronics Marketing China. "It is particularly satisfying to win this award with the knowledge that it is determined by the votes of the professionals on the ground, who use our services in their everyday work. In this sense, the award is a fitting tribute to the Avnet team, whose expertise and technical focus has ensured that we remain the electronics distributor of choice among fellow industry professionals."
The awards marked the culmination of five months of voting in various categories by engineers who are EDN China readers. They were invited to select their preferred distributors based on categories including product quality, technical support, technical enquiry service, number of franchise lines, e-supply chain, delivery cycle, etc. Panel judges, drawn from the ranks of industry insiders, chose the shortlist.
"I congratulate Avnet on winning the Engineers Favourite Distributor award. The standard was very high among all of the short-listed companies, which makes Avnet's achievement in winning the award for the second year in a row all the more impressive," said Mr. William Zhang, China group publisher, EDN China.
Commenting on the award, Avnet Memec China's regional president, Victor Koh, noted that as designs have become more complex, time-to-market had become an increasingly important consideration for engineers, who therefore attached much greater importance to distributors' technical capabilities.
"Avnet has raised its game to meet engineers' higher technical expectations by ensuring we have a high ratio of field application engineers to field sales engineers. We've also invested resources in design centers across Asia and technical education programs like X-fest, offering customers technical knowledge, design solutions and support for applications such as LED lighting, Blu-ray, DTV and renewable energy," Koh added.
