Blossoming Treasures: A CSR Mission for Hong Kong Single Parents Association

HONG KONG, Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Sino Group of Hotels hosted the kick off ceremony for "Blossom in the Year of the Rabbit" at The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers. Nicholas Yim, Executive Director & Group General Manager and the hotels' executives unveiled to the guests papercutting masterpieces specially designed by Lu Xue, President of Chinese Arts Papercutting Association and world-renowned artist, which would be displayed at the hotel lobbies at The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers, Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel, City Garden Hotel and Island Pacific Hotel. They also introduced an auspicious collection of the "Eight Treasures" strengthening good health and enticing good luck, and "18 Days of Chinese New Year", a lucky booklet depicting interesting Chinese traditions, which would be offered to hotel guests during the festive season.

At the ceremony, Lam Kai Fai, MH, Chairman of Chinese Arts Papercutting Association and artist Siu Wai Hing led the hotel executives and members from Hong Kong Single Parents Association to create papercutting art pieces on the theme of flowers and rabbits, to bring fortune and happiness. Dick Tam, Sous Chef of The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers illustrated with hotel executives how to handmake Glutinous Rice Dumplings in Osmanthus Soup to bring families together in Chinese New Year. The sweet dumplings shared with the members from Hong Kong Single Parents Association were the best they had ever tasted. What's more, Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel designed a garden cake decorated with 38 hopping rabbit marshmallows.

Nicholas Yim said, "The Group fostered the development of art via our platforms and online channels, in this season we highlighted traditional Chinese artistic decorations. We also would continue our commitment to upholding corporate social responsibility by getting closer to the community and sharing with those in need. Charity sales of mini Chinese puddings would be held at The Royal Pacific Hotel & Towers and donation would be pledged at all four hotels during the festive period, proceeds of which would go to Hong Kong Single Parents Association."
