EUCLID, Ohio, Feb. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ --
With the majority of PV manufacturing already taking place in China and the bright future shaping-up for thin film PV production in Asia, local presence and a global reach became critical in efficiently addressing the rapidly increasing demand for sputtering targets and ceramic powders. With over 30 locations worldwide including China, Taiwan, and Japan, H.C. Starck offers local support to customers and is pleased to exhibit at this year's SNEC 5th International Solar Photovoltaic Power Expo, February 22-24, Shanghai New International Expo Center, Shanghai, China - Hall 6, Booth 253.

Responding to the demand to lower the cost-per-watt, H.C. Starck's Fabricated Products (FPR) group developed sputtering targets with superior sputtering performance for thin film PV (TFPV) energy applications. Marketing to CIGS, a-Si (amorphous silicon) and CdTe thin films solar module manufacturers, FPR manufactures custom rotary and planar sputter targets from molybdenum (Mo) and nickel based (Ni) alloys along with its other core competency materials: tantalum (Ta), niobium (Nb) and tungsten (W).
The Advanced Metal and Ceramic Powders (AMCP) group's high grade Si3N4 powders continue to meet the purity requirements set by ingot/wafer producers. Concerns during solidification of multicrystalline silicon are to avoid impurities entering the silicon and to minimize stresses created during solidification. Silica crucibles used for melting and crystallizing silicon are coated on their inside surface with a Si3N4 based coating, which facilitates an easy release of the ingot after finishing the production cycle.
H.C. Starck invites you to stop by and meet our experienced technical staff: Rex Lu, Dr. Thomas Schmidt, David Dai, Mike Hsieh, and Alan Lee; and learn how you can become a strategic partner in the innovation and development of value-added product solutions for the PV industry.
