Expansion Comes on the Heels of New Distribution Agreements with RIM and Jawbone

MIAMI and TAIPEI, Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Brightstar, a global leader in services and solutions for the wireless industry, announced today that it has expanded into Taiwan, strengthening its operations in its Asia Pacific and Middle East Africa (APAC MEA) region. Brightstar now has operations in 14 countries, serving 11,000 points of sale and over 4,500 customers, in the APAC MEA region.

Brightstar's operations in Taiwan are headquartered in Taipei's commercial Neihu district. The company brings a differentiated model for wireless distribution to Taiwan with expanded services for mobile operators and retailers that include inventory management, supply chain management, channel marketing, visual merchandising, sales force training and others. This value-added approach to product distribution has helped Brightstar grow from a regional distributor to the world's largest specialized distributor of mobile devices.

"Entering the Taiwan market is part of our strategy to build a diverse service business focused on operators and retailers in Greater China," said Arturo Osorio, president of Brightstar Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa. "We believe this expansion will strengthen our regional footprint by enabling greater purchasing scale for our existing customers and partners."

Brightstar's expansion into Taiwan comes on the heels of distribution agreements with leading manufacturers including Research In Motion (RIM) and Jawbone, maker of premium smartphone accessories.

Under the agreement with RIM, Brightstar is authorized to distribute BlackBerry® smartphones, tablets and accessories in Taiwan. The company will also distribute Jawbone's full product range, including the ERA™ Bluetooth® headset and Jambox™ wireless speaker.

Brightstar will distribute to a variety of channel partners in Taiwan, including mobile operators, consumer electronics retailers, corporate customers and online retailers. This multi-channel approach reflects Brightstar's many relationships in the wireless industry and deep understanding of the way wireless devices are marketed and sold globally.

Brightstar offers an expansive global services portfolio for wireless manufacturers, operators, retailers, government agencies, value-added resellers (VARs) and consumers across 51 countries and territories on six continents.
