HONG KONG, March 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Three top Peruvian companies are joining the world's largest jewellery show, the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show this March. This is the first ever pavilion delegation comprising of famous Peruvian jewellers Arin, Mitos and Urin Huanca, and the only other Latin American country to exhibit in the show.

This is a demonstration of Peru's strong commitment to position their jewellery products prominently in the world market. Notably, Peru currently ranks as the third producer of silver and the sixth producer of gold in the world. The story of Peruvian jewellery goes back to ancient civilizations and has ever been enriched by history, myths and legends. The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show is taking place from 5th to 9th March, 2014 at the Hong Kong Conventional and Exhibition Centre.

Commenting on this year's Peruvian pavilion participation at Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, Vladimir Kocerha, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of Peru in Shanghai, notes, "Peruvian jewelleries' unique blending of traditional ethnic and modern artistry have long received wide acclaim around the globe. In order to extend our national pride and reach, the Peruvian delegates will be in Hong Kong to further strengthen their existing business ties, as well as exploring new opportunities with other counterparts and regional contacts."

Peruvian jewellery joins old tradition style: geometric designs and brilliant colours of the natural Peruvian gems representing the ancient gods in heavy pieces of precious metals or the use of traditional handmade techniques like filigree and now combined with the contemporary and more minimalistic styles.

Peculiar to Peru are precious gems like Crisocola (Peruvian turquoise), Andean Opal (blue or pink), spondylus (orange or purple) which is considered a sacred shell among the ancient Andean peoples, in addition to rare minerals including rhodochrosite, amazonite, and serpentine, etc. In Peru, silversmith and goldsmith techniques were traditionally passed from parents to their children, with jewelleries pieces combining traditional ethnic techniques and design with modern artistic talent.
