2nd Invest in the United States Forum and Exhibition Draws Over a Hundred Zhejiang Companies

NINGBO, China, June 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Invest USA Committee hosted the Invest in the United States Forum & Exhibition at Shangri-La Ningbo. The theme of the event was on the automotive and healthcare industries. Over 140 participants from local and U.S. enterprises were present at the event, from automotive parts manufacturers to legal offices and other service providers.

"Opportunities for Chinese automotive companies have never been better in the United States. Manufacturing technology integration, new energy vehicles and emission controls are just a few of the many sectors of the automotive industry where new opportunities have emerged for Chinese investors," said the keynote speaker, Ms. Ning Lei, former Technology Director of Navistar and the Vice Chair of the Automotive Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

A ceremonial signing of the intent to invest in South Carolina was also part of the agenda. Signing parties were Mr. Dewai Fan, General Manager Assistant of Jiangnan Mould & Plastic Technology Co. Ltd., and Ms. Sophie Qi, Executive Director of the Chinese Economic Development Board of South Carolina. Jiangnan Mould & Plastic Technology will invest US$45 million on a manufacturing plant in Greer, South Carolina, generating 150 new jobs for the state.

The Forum featured a number of presentations educating local companies on financial planning, legal issues and other things to consider when planning expansion to the United States. Several investment opportunities were also introduced across a number of states including Michigan, Indiana and South Carolina. Projects ranged from proton cancer therapy machines and treatment facilities to electric storage systems and powertrains.

"The turnout of local companies truly displays the high level of interest from Chinese companies on investment to the United States. We were thrilled to work with the Ningbo Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Ningbo International Investment Promotion Bureau in organizing the Forum," said Scott Williams, Chair of the Invest USA Committee and the Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, after the event.
