Suning Hosts Delegation Led by U.S. Consul General Hanscom Smith to Further Enhance its Global FootprintNANJING, China, Mar. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- As one of the largest commercial retail enterprises, Suning, recently hosted at its headquarters in Nanjing a group of leaders from the American economy and trade sector led by Hanscom Smith, the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai. During the visit, Suning demonstrated its efforts to promote the growth of the entire retail industry, and simultaneously, expressed its wish to further expand its global business this year.

During the visit, Suning not only showcased its leading business model through the exhibition hall in its headquarter buildings, but also shared the story of its founding, as well as how the company transformed itself from a traditional commercial enterprise to a more tech-savy and innovation-led Omni-channel retailer that prides itself on its intelligent retailing. Suning is inventing a new mode of intelligent retailing, which integrates the Internet of Things (IoT), intelligent household products, AI and virtual reality into the entire supply, logistics and retail ecosystem to combine online and offline businesses together. Though this transformation Suning aims to help suppliers and manufacturers better understand and fulfill the needs of their consumers.

Hanscom commented, "Suning is definitely a legend in the industry as a successful entrepreneurship story. We see the efforts and progress Suning was making initially as a start-up company, and now it is leading the industry. Suning's story is very similar to that of many big American companies."

While exchanging ideas on global investment opportunities, Suning shared its recent initiatives and plans concerning the American market:

  • Earlier this year, Suning attended the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at Las Vegas for the first time and introduced zc.suning.com, smart home products and other products to the show.
  • Suning also established a research institute in Silicon Valley to upgrade its IT strengths. Leveraging its technical expertise, the institute is developing a chat robot project to support its smart retail platform, which enables human-machine interactions and can communicate with consumers in a cordial, natural and anthropomorphic way.

"There are tremendous chances and resources in America; but to effectively utilize the resources, companies need to have knowledge of the local market. Chinese companies, such as Suning, are very welcome to invest in the U.S.," said Hanscom. He also invited Suning to join the Global Capital Summit to be held in America this June, to seek more partnership opportunities.

With its international businesses covering supply-chain building, cross border e-commerce, IT research, distribution of oversea branded products and enterprises' investments and mergers, now Suning has already extended its global path to Hong Kong, Japan, America and Europe. According to Yang Yang, Vice President of Suning Investment Group, "Suning is also expediting its plans to enter markets in Southeast Asia, Australia and many other regions."
