Around 80% of Corporations in TEDA Are Setting Up Stratagem and Systems for Intellectual Property Rights


Running Ahead in the Industrialization Rate of Domestic Patents

TIANJIN, China, April 28 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- In recent years, Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) has endeavored to build a high level of modern manufacturing practices in order to enhance the ability of self-innovation and technological competitiveness. TEDA has emphasized the utilization of intellectual property rights. Thus, circumstances for solid self-innovation have been created and the core competitiveness of corporations, and their abilities to utilize intellectual property rights, have been enhanced.

As of today, along with an enhanced consciousness of intellectual property rights, 80% of the corporations in TEDA have set up a stratagem and systems for intellectual property rights. Patent application quantities have increased at a rate of 70%, annually, and the industrialization rate of patents is in the top position, domestically. 77% of the corporations with patent application cases have executed industrialization of their patents. Self-development and imports from parent companies have become major technical resources for these corporations.

For recent years, patent application quantities in TEDA have increased quickly. According to data from the State Intellectual Property Office of the PRC (SIPO), patent application quantities in TEDA have increased at a rate of 73% since 2002. In 2006, newly added patent application cases reached 600, at an increase of 76% in comparison with 2005. Since 2007, patent applications have been extremely active and there is an average of three new patents daily.

Patent applications from corporations in TEDA have exceeded 1,800 at present. In view of technical resources for the corporations, among the 60 corporations with patent application cases, 50 of them are mainly depending on the self-development of key techniques. It indicates that these corporations possess certain development and research abilities. Among these corporations, 37 of them have executed between 1-5 patents, 5 of them have executed between 5-10 patents and 4 of them have executed more than 10 patents. That is to say, 77% of these corporations have executed their patents. And 11 of them have transferred their patents or awarded warrants successfully, except for their own execution.

In view of this, TEDA found that the majority of corporations with patent applications in the Area, a fertile soil to nourish corporations, have actively made use of their patent techniques on products or began to produce products with patent techniques directly. All these technique-based corporations began to obtain competitive advantages and larger market returns through their patented products.
