HANGZHOU, China, October 24, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Scientists at Astronergy have developed improved design and manufacturing techniques for generating high efficiency 6" mono crystalline cells, exceeding 19%, without any cost increase.

This new "Nova" technology is in line with the company's core strategy of creating the best products possible while keeping cost low. The new technology will have immediate impact to our customers providing a product that can provide a higher system power output and utilizing less space at no additional cost. Our customers will be more competitive and be able to provide a faster return on investment to investors.

"There are further improvements that we will make, but this takes us a significant step closer to the ultimate goal, which is to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels by providing more affordable renewable energy solutions and products," said Dr. Liyou Yang, CEO at Astronergy.

Commercialization of the new cells using the "Nova" technology has been available. Astronergy showcased at SPI show in Dallas the latest modules with output to 260Wp for 60-cell series and to 310Wp for 72-cell series. Additional efficiency improvements are capable with the new technology and planned for production introduction in the near future.
