The art education project run by Unilever in conjunction with Tate encouraged young people to create a painting, a sculpture or even a small installation on a given theme. It ran alongside The Unilever Series, the annual art commission in the vast Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, London. The project theme for this year was inspired by the work of Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, whose piece TH.2058 was exhibited at Tate Modern until 13 April 2009.

Displaying work of young artists from around the world was the culmination of the Unilever International Schools Art Project. The project started in 2001 and has seen participation of more than 135,000 children from forty-six countries.

Commenting last night, Gavin Neath, Senior Vice-President, Global Communications at Unilever said: "The standard of work submitted has once again been incredibly high. It has provided a fascinating insight into how the theme of Spaces and Places has inspired children from across the globe. This Unilever event is one of the largest international art projects for young people, providing an opportunity for them to express themselves artistically and learn more about each other's cultures."

The artwork from the selected 15-country representatives will then be displayed in the Clore Education Centre at Tate Modern until 2 May 2009.
