LOMBARD, Illinois, July 10 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) announced today that executives from Procter & Gamble, DHL, Eaton Corp., and dignitaries from the Taiwan government will lead discussions on supply chain globalization and resulting new market opportunities at its conference in Taipei on August 14-15.

The conference, titled An In-Depth Journey of Logistics and Supply Chain Management in the Flatter World, will address how globalization has created substantial new market opportunities, while also presenting supply chain leaders with a formidable set of challenges. "Competitive pressures have intensified and global organizations are in the midst of major transformations due to the rapidly changing demands of the global business environment. We will be taking an in-depth look at these issues and the accompanying opportunities they create," said Thomas Speh, event co-chair and supply chain management professor at Miami University of Ohio.

"Supply chain practitioners must evolve and adapt to meet the ever-increasing needs of their customers whose businesses have changed dramatically. Attendees of this conference will walk away with solutions to help them manage these challenges," said Speh.

"Speakers will also focus on strategies for integrating supply chain activities, enhancing efficiencies, and satisfying customer needs. A broad range of topics will be covered, including the most effective approaches for working with logistics service providers, how to hire and train top quality people, and how to drive supply chains to respond to the changing needs of the global marketplace."
