China Hydroelectric Corporation Receives Tariff Increases in Fujian Province

NEW YORK, May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China Hydroelectric Corporation (NYSE: CHC, CHCWS) ("China Hydroelectric" or the "Company"), an owner, developer and operator of small hydroelectric power projects in the People's Republic of China ("China"), today announced the Company has received a tariff increase of RMB 0.021 per kilowatt hour for two of its hydroelectric power projects in Fujian province: Banzhu, with 45 megawatts ("MW") of installed capacity, and Wangkeng, with 40 MW of installed capacity, which represents increases of 5.8% and 6.8%, respectively.

While hydroelectric tariffs in China remain low in many provinces, we are encouraged by the Government's actions to show their support for this emission-free energy source.
