SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- China Information Security Technology, Inc., (Nasdaq: CPBY) (“China Information Security,” “CIST” or the “Company”), a leading application software developer, systems integrator and full-service Geographic Information Systems (“GIS”) solutions provider to public security and civil-use markets in China, today announced that China’s Ministry of Public Security (the “MPS”) has selected the Company’s core police-use GIS (“PGIS”) technology for use in standardizing PGIS technologies nationally.
CIST’s PGIS platform enables urban emergency coordinated actions, commanding and dispatching, police force deployment, patrol distribution and monitoring to ensure the efficiency of the mobile law enforcement workforce. The PGIS platform allows the command center to “visually” see all resources, and to communicate with the police on the ground directly and easily.
An important part of Phase II of the National Golden Shield Project, the National PGIS Application Project (the “Project”) aims to establish an integrated platform connecting all variations of PGIS systems throughout the country, to provide uniform standards, basic data, common technology as well as application mode characteristics, and to share information across different public service departments and police divisions. The Project’s goal is to upgrade the level of police-use technology and enhance the quick response capabilities for public emergencies. When the Project is complete, it is expected that all PGIS systems in China will be standardized and interconnected. MPS plans to standardize 100 provincial-level cities and municipalities over the next three years and then subsequently roll out these systems nationwide.
In addition to standardization, one of the main goals of the Project is to allow centralized coordination from the central government in Beijing to the Province, the City, the district and to the sub-station. CIST is responsible for the most critical elements of the platform in terms of technology, which enable the networking of the centralized platform. Without connectivity in place, the goal of centralized coordination could not be achieved, rendering the initiative useless. CIST’s installed systems in Guangdong Province, which have been interconnected to Shenzhen city and the local district, have served as a working model on the provincial level. The Company’s core technology to be used in the standardization process will drive the interconnection of PGIS systems nationwide. As a result, management expects that CIST’s brand recognition in the public security industry in China will increase, further strengthening its market leading position.
