MPD Surgical Group Signs Second Contract for daVinci S System Since July SFDA Registration

BETHESDA, Maryland, Sept. 26 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Chindex International, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHDX), a leading independent American provider of western healthcare products and services in the People's Republic of China, announced today that its Medical Products division has been awarded another major contract. Chindex signed its second contract for the sale of a new daVinci S system in mainland China, demonstrating strong interest and demand for this cutting-edge, minimally-invasive surgical technology, which was approved by the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) of the People's Republic of China in July 2008.

The sale of the Intuitive Surgical daVinci S robotic surgical system is to Ditan Hospital in Beijing, a 600 bed, top-level municipal hospital with a particularly strong focus on the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases and treating complications of liver disease. The Hospital is planning to move shortly into new state of the art hospital facilities and the daVinci S robotic surgical system will be an important feature in their model surgical suite.

Chindex CEO Roberta Lipson commented from Beijing, "We are pleased to announce another major contract award in our Medical Products division. The second daVinci S sale so quickly following the receipt of regulatory approval from China's State Food and Drug Administration supports our belief that the Chinese healthcare market is ready and eager to embrace this new and exciting technology. We continue to be optimistic about daVinci revenue contribution to FY2009 Medical Products revenue, and as we noted last week, we continue to be optimistic about this division's revenue performance in the second half of the fiscal year 2009."
