Upcycled Eco-Fashion Catwalk Show

HONG KONG, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Let's jazz up the Easter celebration with a heart of green! This Easter, the Sino Group of Hotels dedicates to support environmental sustainability for a greener planet and at the same time promotes local art and culture. To make this festival more meaningful, the Group joined hands with young designers from Moonbear Creative Workshop, to creatively upcycle bed sheets, towels, plastic bottles, plastic bags, aluminium cans, toilet paper rolls and cardboards from the four hotels. The 7-week workshop engaged the children in the procedures of cleansing, designing, dyeing, sewing and trimming the old materials to transform them into 18 colourful egg-shaped apparels. Children from the Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children had a chance to show off their talents and innovation at their debut catwalk, with the 2.5 feet tall Easter choco-bunny and a wide selection of luscious delicacies.

During the Media Kick-off event, 18 models from Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children Butterfly Estate Nursery School and Sino Group of Hotels were dressed in creative eco-fashion apparels, to demonstrate the concepts of environmental sustainability through innovative upcycling. Kids were then turned into young artists and joined the Hotel management representatives in an interactive game, to learn more about the Group's outstanding participation in environmental protection, e.g. effective food waste recycling, organic farm establishment and commitment to cease serving shark fin in all operated F&B outlets, etc.

Pastry Chef Lei Sut Fong of Hong Kong Gold Coast Hotel came to stage to introduce the 2.5 feet tall decoration, "Bunny's Adventure in Easter Funland" containing 50lbs of chocolate eggs and cute chocolate mushrooms, together with the "Amazing Easter Egg". The guests were invited to savour the tantalising Easter-themed desserts prepared by the four hotels under Sino Group of Hotels that ended the event on a high note.

From now until 15th April, be Sino Group of Hotels' Facebook fan and vote for the best "Easter Fantasy" upcycled apparels. Utilising old bed sheets, towels and disposable materials contributed by the Sino Group of Hotels, the destiny of used materials are re-written in the hands of inventive children from Moonbear Creative Workshop.
