Facing the Challenges of Communication in Pluralistic Society

JAKARTA, Indonesia, Oct. 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Communication science faces important challenges as technology advances increasingly in many areas of life, particularly in the fields of economics, politics, and culture.

In addition, ICCOMAC which this year takes the theme "Leveraging Communication Technology in Managing Diverse Communities" also aims to increase exposure to a variety of issues that intersect with the field of communication. According to the Chairperson of the Committee of The 2nd ICCOMAC Natalia Widiasari, this event also functions as a platform to foster and establish good relations to academics and practitioners.

"So we are no longer talking about link-and-match, but collaboratively in the interests of both academic and practical," said Natalia.

This event brought together keynote speakers from various countries, Prof. Dr. Rainer Janz of Westphalian University of Applied Sciences, Institute for Journalism and Public Relations -JPR-, Germany discussing "The CEO View: The Impact of Communications on Corporate Character in a 24 × 7 Digital World". Then Dr. Marianne Dayrit-Sison, MEN from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia who elaborated on the "To tweet or not to tweet: Community engagement, social media and CSR". Dr Kate Fitch of a Senior Lecturer and Academic Chair at Murdoch University, Perth, Australia describes "The Princess of Instagram: Celebrity, Commodity and Communication".

Also, Lecturer of School of Communication Atma Jaya Catholic University Prof. Dr. Alois A. Nugroho who discussed the "Multicultural Society and Its Global Concern in the Informational Age" and Dr. Nia Sarinastiti, MA., talks about "Maximizing Media ROI based on Technology", as well as practitioners Indira Abidin as Chief Happiness Officer, PT Fortune PR Corporate Secretary, PT Fortune Indonesia Tbk elaborated on "The urgent need of creatilytics: the challenge faced by brands in reaching out to tech-savvy consumers".
