BARCELONA, Spain, Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

  • The company has grown by 8% with respect to 2015
  • Fluendo is a one-stop source for Microsoft, MPEG, LA, Via Licensing, Dolby and Technicolor patent licenses
  • 2015 saw the second highest number of patent infringement lawsuits in U.S. courts
  • Fluendo expands its range of multimedia solutions to markets such as In-Vehicle Infotainment and Broadcasting (HbbTV)

In 2015, the Spanish multimedia company Fluendo S.A. equipped a total of 996,000 thin clients with its software solution for legally playing audio and video, called Fluendo Codec Pack.

Currently, Fluendo's solution is present in 19.61% of the global production of thin clients and, between January and September, the company has invoiced $1.79 million - 8% more than the same period last year.

Companies like HP, Dell, Igel and Unicon Software have adopted Fluendo's audio and video encoding solution given its excellent technology and legal protection against lawsuits related to intellectual property.

In 2015, a total of 5,769 new lawsuits related to technological patents were filed in U.S. courts, the second highest figure ever and 15% more than the previous year. Large multinational IT companies were affected by lawsuits involving patents for audio and video compression on their platforms and are very likely facing financial penalties.

To solve this legal problem, Fluendo's encoding solution incorporates the patent license for the commercialization of the market's main multimedia consortia, such as MPEG LA, Via Licensing, Microsoft, Dolby y Technicolor.

In addition to the commercialization of legal multimedia solutions, Fluendo offers consulting services that allow it to develop tailored multimedia applications based on the open source Gstreamer framework for the main platforms on the market: Linux, Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

Fluendo recently signed a collaboration agreement with MStar Semiconductor, a leading semiconductor company producing digital home and screen solutions, to develop a system compatible with HbbTV 2.0 specifications.

"The collaboration with MStar positions us as a reference partner in the broadcasting sector, specifically in HbbTV 2.0, and demonstrates our expertise in solutions based on GStreamer to the market", points out Mercè Delgado, CEO of Fluendo.

Fluendo's commitment to multimedia innovation has led the company to expand its range of solutions and services to new segments of the market, such as In-Vehicle Infotainment and Internet of Things, and to develop a new business line based on video analysis solutions.
