Food Week Korea to Open on November 18 Theme marking its 10th Anniversary is 'A World of Flavors'

SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Food Week Korea opens on the 18th at COEX. Featuring over 1000 companies and everything from the local cuisine from 25 different countries to domestic specialty goods, Food Week Korea is the largest food exhibition in Korea.

At Food Week Korea visitors can browse through a variety of food exhibits as they discover the latest trends in the rapidly evolving food industry by participating in food culture events and conferences. In honor of its 10th anniversary, Food Week Korea plans to showcase a number of programs that will allow visitors to enjoy 'A World of Flavors.' In order to reflect the consumer trends towards healthy, clean and aesthetically pleasing food, the exhibition will showcase the best in healthy food and technology including, fermented food, convenient healthy food, natural sugars, and low-carbon cooking methods. Other programs include a special section featuring 'a world of flavors,' Food Week Food Forum, Halal Certification Seminar, Gourmet Seoul Cooking Show, 10th anniversary events such as the "Lucky Bag Giveaway" and free entry for visitors with a name relevant to fruit, and cultural events from different Asian countries.

The ASEAN local food corner of COEX Hall B will highlight local dishes made with rarely known, natural ingredients from ten ASEAN countries. Visitors can sample the local cuisine from Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Hall A will host the first annual Korean Fruit Fair which aims to spread awareness and increase consumption of Korean fruits. The Fair will feature many programs including an auction that allows visitors to buy Korean fruits at an inexpensive price, the "Best Korean Fruit" contest, a fruit makeup show, and a cooking class, Visitors can try free samples and buy fruit at a discounted rate, including apples, pears, persimmons, grapes, peaches, tangerines, and tropical fruits grown in Korea. 

In addition, visitors will be able to purchase famous regional baked goods, sauces, pickled seafood, fruits, and tea at the Local Food Hall.

The exhibition will also provide an opportunity for the exhibitors to meet foreign distributors and Halal buyers.

"Last year 668 successful B2B meetings and 359 billion won worth of profit were generated," said Mr. Chang-hoon Song, the Deputy Director of Food Week Korea Secretariat. "We expect to maximize results this year by acting as an export channel. We will hold seminars with Halal buyers for the Middle East and Southwest Asian regions, and utilize Trade Korea and K-mall 24, an online export platform developed by KITA."
