BEIJING, July 1, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Fuwei Films (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: FFHL) ("Fuwei Films" or the "Company"), a manufacturer and distributor of high-quality BOPET plastic films in China, today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Fuwei Films (Shandong) Co., Ltd. ("Shandong Fuwei") has been certified to be phthalate free based on testing by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd. ("SGS") on June 16, 2011.

SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd. was founded in 1991 as a joint venture between SGS Group and China Standard Technology Development Corp. SGS is the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. To insure quality control and customer responsibility, Fuwei Films commissioned SGS to conduct phthalate testing on its products to insure the highest levels of safety. According to a report by chinabopet.cn, China has strengthened hygiene and safety requirements in all aspects of food production in recent years. Under such circumstances, it is very important to insure that packaging materials are safe and do not contaminate food. Chairman and CEO of Fuwei Films, Mr. Xiaoan He said, "We are pleased to receive the safety certification from SGS. As demand for high-grade BOPET films increases, it is important to insure the highest level of quality and safety. BOPET films are recyclable, hygienic and environmentally friendly packaging materials."
