Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) Holds the 2nd Workshop to Promote TD-LTE Ecosystem

MUNICH, Sept. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Delegates of 24 operators from Asia, Europe, America, Oceania and Africa attended the 2nd Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) Workshop to focus on TD-LTE ecosystem promotion by exploring key technical areas.  

In this workshop, GTI operators shared the latest progress of TD-LTE trial and commercial deployments, reviewed the achievements and deliverables by eight Task Forces covering spectrum, terminal, infrastructure and IOT etc, and discussed future work. Leading vendors including Alcatel-Lucent, Anite, Anritsu, Ericsson, Huawei, Hisilicon, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), Qualcomm, Rohde & Schwarz, Samsung, ZTE were invited to present solutions and latest technologies in relation to the Task Forces. By the extensive discussions in the workshop, global operators and vendors set up the future work plan to further accelerate the maturity of TD-LTE and promote the TD-LTE global deployment.

Through the two-day meetings, around 40 attendees used the commercial and pre-commercial TD-LTE USB dongles provided by Huawei, ZTE and NSN with indoor TD-LTE coverage. The stable and high performances of these TD-LTE dongles in real multi-user environment showed the capabilities in commercial mobile broadband networks.

GTI was kicked off in Feb. 2011 by 7 operators including Aero2, Bharti Airtel, China Mobile, Clearwire, E-Plus, Softbank and Vodafone. In April 2011, GTI held the 1st Workshop in Guangzhou China, where GTI operators and vendors shared the progress of TD-LTE industry and identified the key technical issues for TD-LTE deployment. Following the 1st Workshop, GTI established 8 Task Forces to investigate these key issues. As of September 2011, GTI has developed into a community of 31 operator members.
