Chongqing Mayor and Delegation Visit Honeywell Technology Center in Washington D.C.

Washington D.C., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) signed two memorandums of understanding (MOU) on Aug. 19 on energy efficiency and environmental protection. The MOUs were signed during Chongqing City Mayor Wang Hongju's visit to Honeywell's Washington D.C. office. In addition to signing the two MOUs, the Chonqing delegation visited the Honeywell Technology Experience. The visit offered a hands-on look at the company's energy efficiency, safety, security, transportation, controls and materials portfolio.

Honeywell signed a joint development MOU for micro-turbochargers with ChangAn Automobile. Honeywell is a leading provider of turbocharging technologies. This agreement underscores Honeywell's effort to support the China government's call for engine downsizing and more fuel efficient and environmentally-friendlier engines. It also demonstrates the close cooperation of Honeywell and the Chinese automotive industry.

The company also signed an Environment Protection Project Agreement with the Chongqing Chemical Industry Park (CCIP). This project is to utilize Honeywell WEBs online monitoring to remotely monitor pollution. Earlier this year, the Key Hazardous Sources Online Monitoring System of the CCIP was launched to help companies meet pollution control standards. Today's MOU nearly doubled the number of companies participating in the environmental protection initiative.

"Honeywell is a global leader in energy efficiency and environmental protection technology and has been proactively participating in Chongqing city's economic growth and construction," said Mayor Wang. "We have deepened our knowledge of Honeywell's long history and advanced technologies on this visit, which will enable Chongqing enterprises to cooperate better with Honeywell on other projects."

"I feel very honored to witness this milestone ceremony today," said Shane Tedjarati, President and CEO of Honeywell China and India. "Over the years Honeywell has had a number of successful collaborations with Chongqing. As a member of the Mayor's International Economic Advisory Council, we have been providing counsel to Chongqing's urban construction and economic development strategies. We have established the Honeywell Process Solution's first Global Engineering Service Center in Chongqing, and have forged partnerships with local enterprises by helping them in energy efficiency and environmental protection initiatives. Construction of five Honeywell dedicated village clinics is underway in Liangping County. I'm glad to see that our technologies are contributing to the pillar industries development and sustainable growth in Chongqing, I look forward to extending our win-win collaborations to more companies in that region."

Honeywell is the global leader in environmental protection and energy efficiency. Nearly half of the company's portfolio is related to energy savings. If the U.S. and Europe were to aggressively use existing Honeywell technologies, they could reduce the current level of energy consumption by between 15 and 20 percent. In China, Honeywell is actively assisting the nation through its energy efficient technologies, while developing a sustainable economy.
