Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2014 Announces Results

Recognised exceptional board leadership and procedures and sustainability that is integrated with risk management

HONG KONG, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Winners of the "Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2014" showed exceptional board leadership and procedures that ensure sound implementation of governance measures while sustainability concept received senior level attention and are integrated with the overall risk management process.

The results of "Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2014" were announced at this evening's gala dinner which doubled as the 12th Anniversary celebration of the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies ("CHKLC"), the organizer of the annual awards programme.

According to Dr. Eddy Fong, Chairman of the Judging Panel, the winners have tailored their governance polices and principles to tackle the risks and challenges facing their organizations or industries rather than just following standard code of practice. 

"In addition, winning companies recognize sustainability is an integral part of sound corporate governance and is closely linked to the long term development and prosperity of a company; they have therefore made much efforts in that area," said Dr. Fong.

The winners of 2014 Awards are Hang Lung Properties Limited and Lenovo Group Limited in the Category for Hang Seng Index Constituents; AAC Technologies Holdings Inc. and China Pacific Insurance (Group) Company Limited in the Category for Hang Seng Composite Index Constituents. In Sustainability Awards, the two winners are VTech Holdings Limited and Lenovo Group Limited.

Mr. Patrick Sun, Chairman of CHKLC congratulated the winners: "We are particularly pleased to see many of our winners this year are first time entrants, showing that more companies see the value of the awards programme and the recognition it represents and are willing to step up to share their experience."

"The Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards" are conferred annually since 2007 by the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies and the Centre for Corporate Governance and Financial Policy, Hong Kong Baptist University.
