Heidrick & Struggles International, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSII), the world's premier executive search and leadership consulting firm, today announced that Ira J. Isaacson, M.D., has joined the firm's Global Life Sciences practice as a Partner. He will be based in the firm's Atlanta office.

Mr. Isaacson practiced medicine from 1980 to 1994 and advanced to professor of anesthesiology at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. From 1994 to 1996, he served as the associate director and chief operating officer of The Emory Clinic, responsible for general operations, strategic planning, and practice management for 2,800 employees, including 800 physicians.
A graduate of The Chicago Medical School, Mr. Isaacson undertook residency at Northwestern University and his fellowship at the Harvard Medical School. He received an M.B.A. from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
In his academic career, Mr. Isaacson has authored numerous papers and book chapters and has lectured internationally on a wide variety of clinical and healthcare management subjects.
Mr. Isaacson's executive search and leadership consulting experience spans 13 years and includes work on behalf of physician/scientist leadership groups in academic healthcare, research institutions, and the biopharmaceutical industry.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Mr. Isaacson was a partner with Spencer Stuart, where he served as a core member of the global life sciences practice.
