SHANGHAI, May 21 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Jungheinrich is launching a new battery-powered multi-functional reach truck with electric all-wheel steering in September 2010. At bauma 2010, the Hamburg-based enterprise is showcasing its new stacker development as a pilot series truck.

The Jungheinrich electric multi-directional ETV Q20/ETV Q25 truck is equipped with electronically controlled all-wheel steering. "This enables the truck to travel in virtually all directions," explains Armin Holzner, Head of Product Management for Reach Trucks at Jungheinrich. The new development makes truck deployment possible wherever long loads need to be transported and lifted to high lift heights in narrow aisles. "The truck's electric all-wheel steering enables it to transport and store loads up to 8m in length, thus maximising warehouse space," Holzner adds.

A number of different travel programs are available for this purpose, one of them consisting of an "improved normal operation" program that reduces an already small turning radius by up to 34% thanks to simultaneous load wheel steering. "This makes the ETV Q superior to any conventional 4-wheel stacker," comments Holzner. The truck's standard 360-degree steering provides not only for a minimum turning radius, but also for fast changes of direction.

"The standard version of the new ETV Q multi-directional forklift already covers the vast majority of operator needs," declares Armin Holzner, adding that enhanced requirements could be met in the future by a series of additional options, including a vastly increased range of options designed for series 2 and 3 Jungheinrich reach trucks. Series production of the ETV Q20/ETV Q25 trucks is scheduled to commence in September 2010.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world's leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is a logistics service provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and consulting covering the entire field of intralogistics. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
