  • Compendium provides comparative overview of the PT salary scales for the Asia Pacific region
  • Sourcing strategies for industry leaders in the PT segment where talent is scarce will be enhanced
  • APAC labour markets expected to hold steady upward trajectory as we progress through 2012

HONG KONG, May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Global workforce solutions leader, Kelly Services®, today launched its first Asia Pacific-wide ("APAC") Professional and Technical ("PT") Salary Guide. This compendium aims to provide employers and jobseekers alike a comparative overview of the PT salary scales for the whole of the APAC region.

Dhirendra Shantilal, Senior Vice President, Kelly Services Asia Pacific said, "The genesis of this compendium was to provide a guide to enhance sourcing strategies for industry leaders in the PT segment where talent is scarce. As human resource specialists, Kelly Services has to be at the forefront of workforce strategies, and what better way than to make crucial information found in this guide accessible to our associates and clients."

According to Kelly's Global Research Department, the continued strong demand for talent has driven employee turnover rates up to an estimated 14.1% across APAC in 2011. While there may be a slight softening in demand in 2012, keen competition for knowledge workers across all countries in APAC is still evident. Even as unemployment rates continue on an overall downward trend, talent scarcity in specialist areas like Engineering, Accountancy, Technology and Financial Services is further heightened.

Hiring is expected to grow despite challenges like rising inflation and capacity shortages emerging in 2012. This growth is expected to exacerbate wage pressures in all countries, and this will drive business costs up, especially when employers are serious about attracting and retaining the critical talent within their organisations.

Against the backdrop of a talent scarcity across the countries in the APAC region, experienced skilled professionals can expect to see some salary increases, particularly in the more developing economies. Employers will have to consider hiking up salaries to keep pace with inflation, to attract the right talent and to retain their critical workforce.

In view of the cost pressures facing businesses, Alan Wong, General Manager of Kelly Services Hong Kong added, "This compendium of information will indeed help organisations and talented professionals gain a better understanding of the current state of wage pressures, through the provision of an accurate and transparent contextual comparison for the region."
