International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children Board Member Mike DeNoma Plans to Run 400km from Kaohsiung to Taipei as a Part of China's Silk Road Run

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- To fight the global problem of online child pornography one man is running the entire length of the Taiwan Island in an effort to raise money for the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC). Mike DeNoma is a member of the board of directors of ICMEC and is an experienced long-distance and endurance runner. However this will be the longest run he has attempted.

He began his foot race on March 22, 2011 from Kaohsiung, China a city located on the southwestern coast of Taiwan. He won't stop until seven days later on March 28 when he reaches Taipei, the largest metropolitan area in Taiwan located at the northern tip of the island.

DeNoma, a 54-year-old father of six is calling his race Protect the Children 400km Ultra-Marathon as a part the famed Silk Road Run which renowned ultra endurance runner Kevin Lin will also be participating in. As a part of the foot race DeNoma will have to endure miles of rocky riverbeds and desert. Each day he will also battle to stay hydrated and care for blistered feet.

This is just one of the events which DeNoma has participated in to raise money and awareness for ICMEC. In 2006 he participated in the Marathon des Sables, an endurance race across the Sahara Desert and he rode in the Furnace 508, a bicycle race across Death Valley, the hottest place in the world.
