Marex Financial Receives SFC Licence and Launches in Hong Kong

HONG KONG, Feb. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Marex, the international specialist derivatives and FX brokerage firm, today announces that it has opened an office in Hong Kong, following the receipt of a Type 2 licence from the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission. This development is an important step in further expanding the business in Asia and creates a major new player in the Hong Kong derivatives market.

Through its US based entity, Marex was recently granted a full clearing member status of both the CME Group and ICE US exchanges, thus, expanding Marex's business into North America by providing new and existing customers with execution and clearing services in US markets.

The Hong Kong team:

Anise Lau has over 16 years of experience and joins Marex from Fortis Bank Hong Kong where she was responsible for business development in Asia. Previously, Ms. Lau also worked at Natexis Markets (Asia) Limited, Metallgesellschaft Hong Kong Limited and Wonson Metals And Minerals Limited.

Matthew Dalziel has over 15 years of experience and joins Marex from HSBC where he was Head of Futures Trading and Options Technology in Asia. Previously, Mr. Dalziel served in senior positions at Lehman Brothers, GL Trade, Deutsche Bank and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Fred Lau has over 20 years of experience and joins Marex from Newedge Group, where he was most recently a Director in the Financial Futures and Options Group. Previously, Mr. Lau also served in senior positions at ADMIS (formally Refco), Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, Salomon Smith Barney, Hui You Brokerage and HSBC Brokerage.

Yip Wing has over 15 years of experience and joins Marex from Newedge Group, where he was an AVP in the Financial Futures and Options Group. Previously, Mr. Wing worked at ADMIS (formally Refco), Fimat Hong Kong and Wardley Financial Services Limited.

Homer Deng joins Marex from MF Global where he was an account manager for the LME. Previously, Mr. Deng managed arbitrage funds at Shen Zhen Simding Investments Limited.

Daniel Lim joins Marex from Fortis Bank Hong Kong where he was responsible for market making to institutional and corporate clients in Asia on spot, futures, and options. Previously, Mr. Lim worked at BNP Paribas and Olam International.
