2015-03-25 09:00 2271

POWNAL, Maine, March 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Yamashita, author of ten photography books and winner of numerous industry awards, will join Jock Montgomery, owner of Compass Rose Expeditions and adventure travel guide, to offer photography tours to Yunnan and Sri Lanka in 2015 and 2016.

In October 2015, they will lead a 14-day photography tour to 7 UNESCO world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. Once part of the Sea Silk Road, Marco Polo said this is 'the most beautiful island of its size in the world.' Michael captures the images Marco Polo wrote about in his book Marco Polo: a Photographer's Journey.

In June 2016, Michael and Jock will lead a small group of photographers on a 12-day trip to Yunnan, China. This adventure through spectacular scenery will trace part of the history of the ancient tea-trading route through the Tibetan Plateau. Michael explores this route in his book Shangri-La: along the tea road to Lhasa.

Jock Montgomery says, "Michael Yamashita is an incredibly talented and prolific photographer. Watching him review and edit students' work is amazing. He knows instantly what works and what doesn't -- an important skill in helping participants develop their photographic intuition."

These tours offer participants, of all skill levels and ages, the opportunity to learn tips and techniques from top-level international photographers while traveling in exotic, real-world locations. Participants are tutored in all aspects of photography from lighting, composition, and content to developing serious cultural documentaries.
