ObjectVideo received a USPTO Ex Parte Reexamination Certificate ("Certificate") for U.S. Patent Number 7,868,912 (the '912 Patent), which is owned by OV. The issuance of the Certificate signifies the end of the reexamination.

The USPTO confirmed the patentability of virtually all claims of the '912 Patent, without any modification, including 14 new claims that have been added to the '912 Patent. A total of 35 claims issued from the reexamination proceeding.

OV previously sued several companies in the United States International Trade Commission and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. All prior art identified in those proceedings, as well as additional prior art, was considered by the USPTO during the reexamination proceeding.

"We are thrilled by the USPTO's decision to uphold -- and indeed, bolster -- the claims of this important contribution to the field of video analytics," said Raul Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of OV. "It is one thing to have an issued patent, it is quite another to have the validity of that patent challenged in litigation and again at the USPTO with such successful results. This is the second successful result for this patent family. We are pleased that the validity of these seminal patents is now behind us, as we continue our successful licensing program that has resulted in 18 patent licenses to date."

ObjectVideo holds 57 US and international patents in the field of video analytics, and has over 40 US and international patents pending. Industry leaders across the world, including 18 patent licensees, recognize the contributions of ObjectVideo's innovations -- and the importance of its patent portfolio -- to this growing field.
