RICS Conference Contributes to Malaysia's High-Income Economy Goal

HONG KONG, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- RICS is organizing a conference themed "Moving Towards A Developed Nation and High Income Economy" to be held on 6 April 2011 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The objective of this conference is to support the Government of Malaysia's National Transformation Programme (NTP) which involves four pillars of initiatives-Malaysia: People First Performance Now Concept, the Government Transformation Programme (GTP); Economic Transformation Programme (ETP); and the 10th Malaysia Plan. RICS believes the role of chartered surveyors can contribute to the government's vision for a high-income economy by 2020 through inclusive, balanced and sustainable development.

The conference will address several issues such as the role of professionals in a globalised and competitive world, the opportunities and challenges confronted when moving towards a sustainable future and value creation in property development. It is a week-long program with appointments with senior government officials, regulators, thought leaders and stakeholders in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok.

RICS attaches high importance to Asia. To support this prominent event, the full presidential team  will be present in Malaysia, and will appear at the conference, including Robert Peto - President, Ong See Lian - President-Elect, Allan Collet - Senior Vice President, Jim Carter - Chair of Management Board, Rob Mahoney - Honorary Secretary, Michael Newey - Vice President, and Sean Tompkins - CEO.
