Suntech Announces Completion of Solar System for San Francisco International Airport

WUXI, China and SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE: STP), one of the world's leading manufacturers of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules, today announced the completion of a 500kW solar system at the San Francisco International Airport's (SFO) new Terminal 3. Close to 3,000 Suntech solar modules were installed by San Francisco based BASS Electric.

San Francisco Mayor Mr. Gavin Newsom unveiled the new solar system on September 21, 2007 and was joined at a press conference by Mr. Steven Chan, Suntech's Chief Strategy Officer, Mr. Jeff Yee, President of BASS Electric, Mr. John Martin, the SFO Airport Director, and Ms. Susan Leal, President of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

"This landmark solar project reflects Suntech's growing presence in the U.S. solar market and helps to build the profile of solar energy as an important component of the total energy mix," said Mr. Chan. "BASS Electric's expertise was instrumental in ensuring the successful and on-schedule completion of this project."

According to BASS Electric, the Terminal 3 solar energy system is estimated to generate an annual energy saving of 669,000 kilowatt hours, and save approximately 7,200 tons of Carbon Dioxide over a 30 year period.
