Super 8 China CEO Named ‘One of the Most Influential People in World Travel’

BEIJING, March 11 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Super 8(R) Hotels China CEO Mitchell A. Presnick has been recognized as one of the 33 most influential people in the global travel industry by Travel Weekly magazine, a leading U.S.-based travel industry publication.

Travel Weekly stated that, "for a period, (Super 8 Hotels China) was the only western brand aggressively blanketing the economy end of China’s fast-growing domestic tourism market."

Travel Weekly described its "Club 33" as "filled with people who had ideas that veered from the status quo and succeeded so spectacularly that the industry jumped out of its rut and followed." Other honorees this year include former U.S. Vice President Albert Gore Jr. and Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of Virgin Group.

In other news, Super 8 China and its CEO were honored at the 4th China Brand Influence Summit, held at the Chinese Great Hall of the People on Jan. 20. Super 8 China was recognized as a "2007 China Excellent Franchise Brand." The brand received the distinction for its "rapid development and outstanding performance in the economy hotel sector". In addition, Mr. Presnick was honored as one of the "Top 10 Outstanding Entrepreneurs in the Hospitality Industry." The event was co-hosted by China United Business Journal, China Industrial Economy News and Market News.
