TAIPEI, Feb. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- TCL Communication Technology Holdings Limited ("TCL Communication" or the "Company" which, together with its subsidiaries and its affiliates, is referred to as the "Group"; HKSE stock code: 02618) today announced the unaudited figures for shipments of handsets and other products for January 2015. The Group's total sales volume of handsets and other products for January 2015 increased by 10% year-on-year to 5,740,000 units. The sales volume of handsets and other products in the overseas markets for the month amounted to 4,601,000 units, while that in China was 1,139,000 units, up by 202% year-on-year. The Group has achieved sales volume of smart devices at 3,761,000 units in January 2015, up 63% year-on-year and accounted for 66% of the total shipment for the month.
In January 2015, TCL Communication continued its marketing and promotion efforts in order to sustain brand awareness and recognition. ALCATEL ONETOUCH has extended its partnership as exclusive presenting sponsor with The Color Run to sponsor their 2015 Shine Tour to more than 1 million participants in around 130 cities in North America, where it brought in smart technology in selected markets to enhance "The Happiest 5K" running experience for the participants. With RFID connected bracelets, runners are able to capture and share their favourite moments quickly and easily via social channels. This move of bringing smart technology to the mass market had aligned perfectly with the event goal of bringing health and fun to everyone.
Besides, as part of the Company's innovation efforts, ALCATEL ONETOUCH sponsored AT&T Developer Summit Hackathon 2015, a global mobile app solution contest held at CES. In order to foster innovation and bridge technology gap in education, ALCATEL ONETOUCH held a challenge around developing apps for education on the POP 8 tablet. The event successfully facilitated the effective use of tablets for education to create a more engaging learning experience.
In China, following the debut of TCL Momoda 3N in December 2014, TCL Momoda 3N Unicom dual-4G model which supports running China Mobile and Unicom 4G network on the same device, has been launched atTCL Momoda online mall. The product is positioned in the RMB1,000 price bracket and will be available in early February 2015, offering users a more convenient mobile communication experience.
