TAIPEI, Taiwan, May 14 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- Topoint Technology Co., Ltd. (Topoint, Stock Code: 8021), one of the leading PCB drill manufactures, today announced its financial results for the first quarter ended 31 March 2009. The quarter revenue decreased by 21.3% quarter-over-quarter to NT$320 million from NT$406 million in 4Q08, and decreased by 25.3% year-on-year from NT$428 million in 1Q08. Net profit totaled NT$21 million, up 81.8% from NT$12 million for the previous quarter, and down 72.3% from 77 million for the same period a year earlier. Basic after-tax earnings per share came to NT$0.20.
Gross margin was down from 33.8% in 4Q08 to 20.8% because of low utilization during the quarter. Operating expense reduced dramatically to NT$37 million from NT$74 million in 4Q08. Net non-operating gain(/loss) is NT$7 million and pretax income is NT$36 million.
Sales volume of first quarter was 24.7 million pieces. By product categories, drill bit below 0.15mm account for 16% of consolidated shipment volume, followed by 0.20-0.25mm 35%, above 0.30mm 43%, router 5% and others 1%. To break down revenue of the first quarter by regions, 32%, 60%, 6% and 2% of consolidated sales on Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan & others respectively.
