Touchmedia's "Beauty GPS" Encourages Chinese Women to Find their Inherent Beauty

SHANGHAI, May 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- "Beauty GPS", a new CSR campaign created by Touchmedia and presented by Marie France Bodyline, held its first workshop today at the Shanghai Tang Cafe in Xintiandi, Shanghai. Of over 20,000 women who registered via Touchmedia interactive screens, 100 lucky winners were invited to attend the first "Beauty GPS" workshop. In the event they were taken on a day long journey of discovery of their inner and outer beauty, with sessions for makeup, hair, weight management, seed planting, embroidery, tie tying, and socializing over cocktails.

This campaign, aired on Touchmedia's network of in-taxi screens in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, is intended to help women understand and embrace their own inherent, unique and individual beauty. "Beauty GPS" reminds them that beauty for each woman is unique, the result of her own background, circumstances, education, travel, culture, knowledge, motherhood, charitable activities, family, personal grooming, hair, clothes, makeup, talents, experiences, personality and impact on others. In a sense, a woman's mastery of her own beauty is a very personal voyage, a balance of inner and outer beauty, with "Beauty GPS" beside them to offer encouragement and inspiration.

More Than 90% Netizens Vote 'Self Confidence' as the Most Important Factor for Woman's Beauty

Touchmedia's Beauty GPS campaign has posed a series of thought provoking questions such as "Where do I find my Beauty" and statements such as "I have lost my beauty." In response to the question "What kind of woman is most beautiful?", several thousand responses were submitted via the "Beauty GPS" microblog. The most often repeated response was "self-confidence"(94%); second highest was "kindness"(75%); and third was, "a woman who has both inner and outer beauty"(62%).

The most interesting reactions to date have included, "A woman who fights for her rights", "A woman who is good at finance", "A woman who plays football with me", "A woman whose eyes shine brightly only for me", "A woman who cries at the movies" and even "A woman who has a transformer in her heart so she is indestructible".

When asked "What are you willing to do to become more beautiful", the top five responses submitted to the "Beauty GPS" weibo were to upgrade inner beauty, develop a positive attitude, reading, losing some weight and better care of skin.

As part of the initial roll out of the campaign, Touchmedia has showcased three women who reflect different faces of beauty, and demonstrate an attractive combination of inner and outer qualities. Yang Wei, coordinator of Shanghai Roots & Shoots' "KidStrong Project" is a beautiful woman because of the kindness she shows to others, devoting her time and energy to helping children at migrant schools. She hopes that more people will be inspired by her example to work for community service organizations. Uma Zhu, who also epitomizes the aims of Beauty GPS, is beautiful because she is confident in presenting herself in all demanding social situations as a senior media industry personality. Diana Shu, the third woman showcased by Beauty GPS, has found a balance between newfound motherhood and running her own business.
