Tudou Ranks No. 15 of the World's Most Valuable Startups

Three major private websites in China hit Silicon Alley Insider (SAI) "Digital 100" global list this year; Tudou ranks higher than Hulu

SHANGHAI, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Silicon Alley Insider ("SAI") announced its third annual "Digital 100 - the World's Most Valuable Startups"* global list in the past week.  Out of the 100 private companies, Tudou (China's leading online video website http://www.tudou.com ) ranks no. 15 and tops the U.S. based premium content video website Hulu.com by two positions.  Focused on serving the world's biggest 420 million internet audience in China, Tudou is well recognized internationally for its growth momentum and strategic potential.   

In the Digital 100 list focusing on unlisted startups, the 2010 winner is Facebook with a 25 billion valuation per SAI.  Online social game company Zynga records no. 2, followed by Wikipedia, Skype, Craiglist and Twitter.  Geographically speaking, three major Internet companies from China hit the list: Taobao the mega online auction platform ranks no. 12; the most popular online video website Tudou ranks no. 15, and the other video site Youku no. 27.  

Chinese companies are obviously competing and winning in the global video competition.  In the global online video category dimension, companies listed by sequence are Tudou leading at no. 15, followed by US-based premium professional video destination Hulu at no. 17, Youku no. 27, and the UK-based LoveFilm at no. 38.  In last year's SAI 2009 list, Tudou ranked no. 47 and quickly rose up to no. 15 within a year.  Estimated valuation of Tudou also tripled after a year per SAI's methodology that combines companies' private Implied valuations, financial performance, market share and market size, as well as growth rate.**
