BEIJING, Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Vimicro International Corporation (Nasdaq: VIMC) ("Vimicro") a leading multimedia semiconductor and solution provider, today announced that the digital surveillance standard -Surveillance Video and Audio Coding (SVAC), was officially released from the Standardization Administration of China on Dec. 31, 2010.
The new national standard for China was co-founded by Vimicro and the first Research Institute of Ministry of Public Security, along with contributions from more than 40 scientific research institutes, universities and security industry companies. SVAC is the first technology standard designed to solve the unique needs of the surveillance industry. It has special significance for the establishment of China public security and criminal prevention system. SVAC will be implemented on May 1, 2011 and be the preferred protocol in government contracts and available to all suppliers participating in the surveillance industry.
