Ceremony Held at 2010 General Assembly of Chinese Academy of Engineering
BEIJING, June 8 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- At the 2010 General Assembly of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Dr. John Zhonghan Deng, Founder and CEO of Vimicro International Corporation (Nasdaq: VIMC), was officially awarded with the honour titled as member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the nation's highest academic title for life honour in the field of engineering and technological sciences in China. Chinese President Hu Jintao was present and delivered the keynote speech in the General Assembly.

Members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering are elected based on their contribution of innovative ideas and products to the industry. As a life-long member of the Academy, members help to promote the integration of engineering and technology as a means to improve national socio-economic development. At 41 years old, Dr. Deng is the youngest member of the Academy.
Dr. Deng received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. He co-founded Vimicro in 1999 and has rapidly developed the company from a start-up into one of China's most innovative and respected technology companies. Dr. Deng was awarded with the honour titled as member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering based on his vast knowledge of the technology landscape, combined with his academic and professional achievements; he not only helped shape Vimicro for the last ten years, but has made internet video communications accessible and popular around the world by his leadership in the development of PC and notebook video camera processors, which were the first Chinese home-grown semiconductor chips to be exported to global PC and notebook brands.
