BEIJING, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- VisionChina Media Inc. (“VisionChina” or the “Company”) (Nasdaq: VISN), one of China’s largest out-of-home digital television advertising networks on mass transportation systems, today announced that it has signed an agreement expanding VisionChina’s geographic coverage into Hangzhou, the capital city of China’s Zhejiang province.

The agreement grants VisionChina the exclusive right to provide a certain amount of mobile television advertising time per day from several key industries on public buses and ferries covered by the mobile television network operated by Hangzhou New & Mobile Media from February 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. The Hangzhou network features 5,841 screens on 3,277 buses and ferries and marks VisionChina’s inaugural move into broadcasting aboard watercraft.

“Our success in securing the contract to broadcast on buses and ferries in Hangzhou is an important addition to our already substantial East Coast presence,” said Mr. Haijun Liu, VisionChina’s chief development officer. “As we continue to expand our geographic coverage and penetration into our existing markets, our network attracts more and more advertisers looking to target the growing urban populations riding public transport across China.”

Mr. Alfred Tong, VisionChina’s chief marketing officer commented, “Advertisers are eager to market in Hangzhou, and Zhejiang province in general, where people have higher disposable incomes than other regions in China. Bringing our affordable and powerful medium to the city provides our current advertisers the option of entering a key market, while those advertisers who are already active in the area are offered a more

cost-effective medium to disseminate their messages.”

According to the Hangzhou Bureau of Statistics, in 2007 Hangzhou ranked eighth in terms of GDP among cities in China with a total GDP of RMB410 billion, approximately US$60 billion. The city has a population of over 7.8 million. Upon signing of this agreement, VisionChina operates a mobile television network on 9,388 buses in six cities in Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces including Hangzhou, Suzhou, Wuxi, Ningbo, Nanjing and Changzhou.
